Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 3, 2026
This policy explains what data VocaBlast ("we", "us") collects, why, and what happens to it. It complements our Terms of Use.
1. What we collect
- Account data: email address, username, a hash of your password (never the password itself), your language and privacy settings, and an avatar if you upload one.
- Your content: the words you save and any context you attach: sentences, links, and photos you upload.
- Usage data: practice results (to schedule reviews), follower relationships, and standard technical logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) kept for security and debugging.
- Cookies: only functional ones, a session cookie and an optional "remember me" cookie so you stay logged in. No advertising cookies.
2. How we use it (including AI)
- To run the Service: store your words, schedule practice, show your profile and feed according to your privacy settings.
- AI processing: the words and context you save (including text from links and the photos you upload) are sent to third-party AI providers, currently Google (Gemini API), to generate definitions, examples, synonyms and translations. Do not attach content you would not want processed this way.
- Abuse and cost control: unusual activity (for example, adding many words in one day) may be reviewed, including automatically by AI, to protect the Service. This can result in limits or suspension as described in the Terms.
- To contact you about your account when necessary. No marketing emails without your consent.
3. What others see
Your profile, words and lists are visible to others according to your privacy setting (Public, Followers only, or Private), which you control in Settings. Your email is never shown publicly.
4. Third parties we rely on
- Google Gemini API: AI enrichment of your words and photos.
- Cloudflare: networking, security and content delivery.
- SendGrid: transactional email delivery.
We do not sell your data. We share it only with the processors above, to the extent needed to operate the Service, or when the law requires it.
5. Retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account exists. You can delete your account at any time in Settings: your words, lists, photos, avatar and follower relationships are permanently removed. Technical logs and backups may persist for a limited time before rotating out.
6. Your rights
You can access and edit your data in the app, and delete it entirely by deleting your account. For anything else (a copy of your data, a correction, a question), email us and we will help: [email protected].
7. Security
Passwords are stored hashed, traffic is encrypted (HTTPS), and access to production data is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, so use a unique password.
8. Children
VocaBlast is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
9. Changes
We may update this policy by posting the new version here with a new date. Significant changes will be highlighted in the app.
